Sean Penn was elected Top CelebStoner on the strength of his surfer-dude character, Jeff Spicoli, in Fast Times at Ridgemont High (1982).

He's played a number of other druggy roles over the years, including the coke-sniffing lawyer in Carlito's Way (1993, with Al Pacino), the coke and heroin abusing traitor who sells top-secret U.S. data and photos to Russian spies in The Falcon and the Snowman (1985, with Timothy Hutton), and yet another cocaine character in Hurly Burly (1998),

But it's Spicoli that stoners love best. He literally rolls out of a hot-box van en route to school, does bong hits and spars with teacher Mr. Hand, who doesn't care for Spicoli's antics which includes having pizza delivered to class. "All I need are some tasty waves, a cool buzz and I'm fine," Spicoli declares in one of his many highlight moments.

Here's another classic line: "So what Jefferson was saying was 'Hey! You know, we left this England place because it was bogus. So if we don't get some cool rules ourselves, pronto, we'll just be bogus too.'"

Born on Aug. 17, 1960 in Los Angeles, Penn has won Best Actor Oscars for Mystic River (2003) and Milk (2008). He's also directed movies such as Into the Wild (2007).

Besides acting and directing, Penn is well known for his activism and strong political opinions. He and actress actress Robin Wright recently divorced. Penn was previously married to Madonna.

He's currently co-starring with Brad Pitt in The Tree of Life.
