Dazed and Confused (1993) PDF Print E-mail
Tuesday, 29 May 2007 01:39

Dazed and Confused ranks second to Up in Smoke as the most popular stoner comedies of all time. SEE TRAILER BELOW

Set in Austin, Texas on the last day of high school in 1976, Richard Linklater's film portrays students partying hard and initiating incoming freshman into their marijuana-toking circle.

Dazed & ConfusedIntroducing such then unknown actors as Matthew McConaughey, Ben Affleck, Parker Posey, Rory Cochrane, Joey Lauren Adams, Adam Goldberg and Milla Jovovich, Dazed and Confused is American Graffitti on weed. A '90s Spicoli, Cochrane's Slater deals weed, waxes enthusiatically about how George and Martha Washington were America's first stoners, wears a pot-leaf t-shirt and carves a wood bong in shop class.

But it's McConaughey as the loveable but sleazy Wooderson who has the film's best line. When Mitch (a frosh played by Wily Wiggins) gets into his car, Wooderson asks him if he has a joint. Mitch shrugs. "It'd be a lot cooler if you did," Wooderson drawls.
