Known as the "Guru of Ganja" for his many cultivation books and "Ask Ed" magazine columns, Ed Rosenthal is among the few activist Top CelebStoners. His update of the Marijuana Grower's Guide was released this year.

Ed RosenthalRosenthal was convicted for the second time in federal court for cultivating cannabis for medical purposes in 2007. He received a one-day sentence, the same penalty he was given in 2003 on the same charges. He's appealing the sentence and hopes to overturn both convictions.

The embattled activist told CelebStoner: "Thank you for your love and trust. It is mutual. I really have to thank the community. Without your concern and help I would be fighting the marijuana laws from behind bars. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you."

In addition, he quoted Pete Seeger: "There is no victory in a land where free men go to jail."

Rosenthal was born in New York in 1944. He began his writing career with High Times, where his "Ask Ed" column ran for two decades until 1999. The column now appears in Skunk. Rosenthal writes and publishes such books as Dank, The Big Book of Buds and Why Marijuana Should Be Legal for his company Quick Trading, which he runs wife his wife Jane.
