Homegrown's all right with me / Homegrown is the way it should be / Homegrown is a good thing / Plant that bell and let it ring

Neil YoungNeil Young wrote and sang this lyric in 1977 on American Stars 'N' Bars. For the 2007 Farm Aid concert, it was the theme song, with Willie Nelson joining Young on a spirited version. Young also wrote "Roll Another Number (for the Road) in 1973 on Tonight's the Night ("I think I'll roll another number for the road / I feel able to get under any load").These two songs are among the many reasons Neil Young was voted a Top CelebStoner - but mostly it was due to the fact that he's one of the greatest singer-songwriters and rock guitarists of all time.

Born in Nov. 12, 1945 in Toronto, Young formed the Mynah Birds with Bruce Palmer and funk icon and fellow Canadian Rick James before moving to Los Angeles where he, Palmer, Steve Stills, Richie Furay, Jim Messina and Dewey Martin christened themselves as Buffalo Springfield. They had a hit with the anti-establishment "For What's It Worth," but Young and Stills soon split to start Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young with David Crosby and Graham Nash. Young's CSNY songs - "Helpless" and "Country Girl Medley" - are highlights of Deja Vu.

Young went solo in 1969 with his band Crazy Horse, and has since released more than 40 albums, including Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere (1969), After the Gold Rush (1970), Harvest (1972), Rust Never Sleeps (1979), Freedom (1989), Greendale (2003), Living with War (2006) and most recently Fork in the Road (2009).

Since 1985, he's hosted Farm Aid with Nelson and John Mellancamp - which brings us back to "Homegrown." These days, Young says, "I try not to smoke too much. I don't want to set a bad example for the kids."

Young's "Fork in the Road" from 2009's Fork in the Road was nominated for a Grammy Award in the Best Solo Rock Performance category. His 2010 album La Noise received Grammy noms in two categories - Best Rock Album and best Rock Song (for "Angry World").

Young recently reunited with Buffalo Springfield for a short tour that culminated at Bonnaroo..

I would love to sit around with Neil and blaze away. It is well known that he loves model railroads and things like that. From what i remember to be honest he got interested in model railroads after the birth of his son who is autistic and it is a way to bring his son into the world.
