Katy Perry's Dad Was a Dealer PDF Print E-mail
Tuesday, 14 October 2008 00:39

Katy "I Kissed a Girl" Perry grew up with hippie parents. Her dad, Keith Hudson, was friends with Timothy Leary and sold LSD, and her mom, Mary, dated Jimi Hendrix. In the '70s, they were born again and became pastors, which explains why Katy began her career as a Christian artist and Mary called her daughter's No. 1 single about a lesbian smooch "shameful and disgusting."

Perry (she changed her name to not be confused with Kate Hudson - her mom's maiden name is Perry) tells Blender: "My dad would have died from one tab of Strawberry Fields too many if he hadn't found God."

About her mom's relationship with Hendrix: "He just came up to her in a club and picked her out.”

"In terms of wild youth, they put me to shame."

Now her parents are conservative Christians. "I can't even listen to that song," Mary said about "I Kissed a Girl. "The first time I heard it I was in total shock."
