In CNBC's Marijuana Inc.: Inside America's Pot Industry, host Trish Regan focuses primarily on Northern California, what she calls "ground zero for marijuana."
Regan interviews medical cultivators, tours Oaksterdam (courtesy of Richard Lee), surveys "Mexican grows" in the mountains and, in the most impressive segment, profiles former smuggler Bruce Perlowin.
Perlowin imported more then 100 tons of Colombian Gold into San Francisco via fishing boats in the late '70s and early 80s. "We saw ourselves as modern-day swashbucklers," Perlowin explains. He made millions of dollar before getting nabbed by the FBI and spending nine years in jail.
In the NoCal segments, Mendocino is characterized as the "wild wild West," where more than 60% of the county's economy is marijuana-based. Regan allows for plenty of voices here, from hardened growers to weary cops to one family that decides to move way after a grow house next door burns down.
During a copter ride over Lake County, Regan asks the pilot if they're winning the war on marijuana. "No, we're not winning," he says blunty. "The people that are winning are the people up here who are sustaining a marijuana culture and that's basically what we have."
Weed is awesome it needs to be legalized. However, the dildo who posted before me needs to remove himself from his own ass. your not that cool boss.

I was only able to watch half way into it and just got annoyed at Trish-something and had to turn it off. If she had a joint maybe she would seem less uptight and then i'd watch the rest of it.lol but i would love to go to the emerald triangle one time:)

This fluff piece hardly analyzed the vastly complex thing known as marijuana prohibition. This was cnbc jumping on the pot attention bandwagon without adding much to the serious debate.

Marijuanna never has been Dangerous but having it illegal when so many people use and enjoy it for medical and recreational perposes makes it dangerous. Keeping laws against it keeps it that way. The Jesus freaks will never agree to it. I live in Georgia

Where's the Change?
1st off, Tony, I loved Dinosaurs. That was one of my favorite shows growing up. Anyway, just like the poster before me said... WE NEED TO LEGALIZE AND TAX the ganja. The people of this country have voiced their opinions, specifically , and recently, through websites like change.org, change.gov, and have answered, "Yes, we want Cannabis decrim/legalized" when the new administration asks the public what we want. House speaker Nancy Pelosi said that the people need to let the gov. hear our voices. We've been doing our part! When you elected officials do yours and represent us, properly? Each and every time, the fed. gov. continues to ignore the will of the people and pretend like thousands of people aren't actively demanding the Change that was promised. Mr. President, when will you stop the federal raids in California? It's not right, and it is un-constitutional to use federal resources like the DEA to harm non-violent, otherwise law-abiding citizens. We are paying to be oppressed. I, as well as other patients throughout California don't know whether to feel safe or not. You are attacking harmless people... the people who voted you into office. I know that you did not start this madness, but you can sure as hell put an end to the nonsense! Please, consider the many benefits of marijuana legalization over some bs "facts" that some gov. officials seem to be pulling out their asses. These faux Christians (I myself am a spiritual person of similar beliefs) claim that legalizing this herb will wreak havoc on America's moral fibers and the youth. They say that marijuana usage will multiply and try to keep pushing the ol' Reefer Madness propaganda of the mid-20th century. You, as well as I know that Cannabis is not some sort of harmful drug, like heroin, pharma drugs, etc. It is a natural plant that God put on earth for us to use. It is the Tree of Life, and it has saved and enriched countless people's lives. [I apologize for the rant] Step up and deliver the change that you promised. In the meantime, people, we have to keep pushing for legalization and not rely on the gov. to do it for us.

Business Man
Put a suit on the folks, call 'em bizness men, and collect taxes. Regulate and Tax. Isn't that what capitalism is all about??? Problem solved. Use the taxes to help those that need help. We decided a long time ago that alcoholism is a disease. Isn't it about time that drug problems are a disease that can't be cured by incarceration? Can't keep drugs out of a federal maximum security prison. What makes you think that you can keep it out of our neighborhoods? Seen anyone selling moonshine lately? Think about it. Can't lock everybody up. If you take everything away from someone, then they have nothing to lose. Someone with nothing to lose is a very dangerous person. Bring this out into the open. Regulate and Tax!!!

At 49 years old, watching this fight since I was a little boy, gets old. At 13, yes I started off and on. Since 1973 I smoked, in 1976 Jimmy Cater made in a misdemeanor for over an Oz. Fast forward, 38 years of off and on smoking, my accomplishments are as follows;
Becoming a pro-Ice Skater, in shows. Dance, in shows and charities. Modeling in print magazines. Landing a TV Series for 3 seasons. Landing not one BUT two movies. Shooting a min-series for a very famous writer. The show hiting # 1 Prime time. Oh, can't forget landing a National Spot (commercial) and another few small commercials. Shot a music video for a very famous band that went #1 with the song on MTV. Shot many made for Dvd's and possible other up coming shows.
My point, off and on smoking weed, getting blazed, snowboarding at 49 for 8 hours a day, being athletic with a body fat of 3%, has kept me same in this insane world.
Where's my bad effects????? got my point? The argument is weed as never slowed me down and I am living proof, this govt. should reverse the sch. 1 status and allow this calming relaxing plant. The other argument, alcohol kills, innocents and kills those whom drink too much or drive. Weed allows a balance to a peaceful world.
Peace.
