The argument can be made that Friday the 13th villain Jason kills everyone who enters the haunted Crystal Lake campground to protect his pot plants. A bong and joints are smoked before the slaughter begins. Sadly, no stoners make it out alive.

Marcus Nispel's remake of the 1980 original has a distinctly skunky odor. Two sets of partiers head to the campground area unaware of its spooky history. Jason's drowning is updated to 1980 (from 1957), but the story remains the same. Donning a hockey mask, he hacks up all comers like a backwoods Darth Vader.

The first group to meet their maker is on a mission to find the campground's weed patch. Several stoners stumble upon it, but they never get to sample the obviously plastic buds. A redneck offers to sell them some before he too is chopped up like a grinder.

It's a curious pot sub-plot. Are the plants Jason's? Is he a stoner?

Well, if Jason is, he's probably the most violent stoner in history, belying the common belief that marijuana makes you mellow.

Still, one reviewer writes:

"The first group's main purpose in going to Crystal Lake is to track down a patch of marijuana being grown in the area so they can take it and sell it themselves. Jason, apparently a big pothead, doesn't take too kindly to this idea, proceeding to take them out one by one..."
