While Bills RB Marshawn Lynch was being arrested for carrying a concealed, loaded and unregistered weapon on Feb. 11, 2009 in Culver City, California, police also found four blunts in the car. Luckily, Lynch, who played in the Pro Bowl just three days earlier, was not charged with marijuana possession. He was released on $35,000 bond.
Lynch's Mercedes was parked and idling when police drove by. The car's license plates were allegedly not up to date. "They knocked on the window of the car," a police Captain Dave Tankenson reported. "Someone unrolled the window. They saw three people in the car and they could smell a strong odor - marijuana coming from the car. They had the occupants exit so they could further investigate to see if there was any marijuana in the car. What they found were four, not marijuana cigarettes - what they call blunts or Swisher Sweets that appeared to contain marijuana in them."
Lynch and his friends escaped marijuana charges because the police "could not determine who was smoking, or whom the cigarettes belonged to."
Buffalo's leading rusher (1,038 yards) in 2008 was the team's No. 1 draft pick in 2007 out of the University of California.
On Mar. 5, Lynch pled guilty pled guilty to three misdemeanors and was sentenced to three years' probation and 80 hours community service. He was suspended by the NFL for the first three games of the 2009 season.
Buffalo traded Lynch to Seattle last October.
