Santana: Legalization Is "Way Overdue" PDF Print E-mail
Friday, 03 April 2009 18:27

Classic-rocker Carlos Santana says, "Legalize marijuana and take all that money and invest it in teachers and in education. You will see a transformation in America. It's gonna reignite us, with people saying, Oh my God, now we can afford not to be paranoid."

Carlos SantanaHe directed his comments to Pres. Obama, calling it "an intense invitation," adding: "I'm not afraid to say what I think that it's really way overdue, like the prohibition with alcohol and stuff like that. I really believe that as soon as we legalize and decriminalize marijuana we can actually afford a really good governor who won't keep taking money away from education and from teachers and send him [Arnold Schwarzenegger] back to Hollywood where he can do 'D' movies and we can get an 'A' governor."

Santana was arrested for marijuana in 1991 at the Houston International Airport. Returning from Mexico (where he was born), security found five grams of weed on him. He was given a six-moth deferred sentence and fined $100.

The legendary guitarist begins a long-term residency with his Santana band at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas on May 27.

I guess Obama isn't the "Black Magic President" Santana hoped he would be...
