Organizers are predicting 15,000 people will flood onto the Colorado University - Boulder campus today for the city's annual 4/20 smoke-out. "It's definitely going to be bigger than last year," Alex Douglas of NORML@CU tells CelebStoner.
Despite school administration efforts to discourage students from attending the event, undergrads will begin congregating on Norlin Quad as early as High Noon. The ground is moist from the snow and rain of previous days. The weather report calls for party cloudy skies and a high of 67 degrees.
Campus 4/20 activities began with Sunday's National Forum on Marijuana. Several hundred students and area activists attended a full day of panels and speeches, which included the Cannabis Cultural Icons panel with CelebStoner's Steve Bloom and filmmaker Kevin Booth (American Drug War). NORML executive director Allen St. Pierre, who flew in from Washington, DC, delivered the opening remarks and sat in on a number of panels.
Last year, more than 10,000 attended the 4/20 Celebration. On Sunday, area shops like Cheba Hut and The Fitter were stocking up in preparation for their biggest business day of the year.
