Alanis Morissette Debuts on 'Weeds' PDF Print E-mail
Monday, 06 July 2009 14:58

Nancy Botwin's obstetrician, Dr. Audra Kitson, is none other than Canadian pop star Alanis Morissette. She makes her first of seven appearances in Weeds' Season 5, starting with this week's episode.

Alanis Morissette_Weeds"Touching on legalization just by having a show called Weeds is amazing," the singer says. "Nancy is in a pickle, and Audra helps her outside of what typically would be allowed in a hospital."

Pregnant with Esteban's baby, Nancy (Mary-Louise Parker) turns to Dr. Kitson for medical care and advice. Esteban (Damien Bichir) is the fictional mayor of Tijuana as well as a drug cartel baron.

A favorite of Kevin Smith, Morissette had cameos in Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back and Dogma. She played Poppy in the 2006 season of Nip/Tuck.

How long will it take for Weeds casanova Andy (Justin Kirk) to make his move on Dr. Kitson? "It's a rocky road at first," Kirk comments. "It is a bit of a struggle for Andy to nail it down, as it were. She just wants to hang out and see how it turns out - just like a Weeds fan."
