Gil Kerlikowske: 'Marijuana Is Dangerous' PDF Print E-mail
Thursday, 23 July 2009 16:09

On the one hand, Gil Kerlikowske says, "Medical marijuana doesn't pose [a] threat." On the other hand, he claims, "Marijuana is dangerous and has no medicinal benefit." Will the real Drug Czar please stand up?

In California to witness  Operation SOS - for Save Our Sierra - seizing marijuana cultivated on National Forest land near Fresno, Kerlikowske also stated ominously on July 22, 2009: "Legalization is not in the president's vocabulary, and it's not in mine."

Less than a month after making these comments, Kerlikowske offered the following clarification: "Sometimes you make a mistake and you work very hard to correct it. That happens. I should've clearly said 'smoked' marijuana and then gone on to say that this is clearly a question that should be answered by the medical community."

Hey, pot activists who supported Kerlikowske's nomination - how do you like him now?

They are all a bunch of thieves and murderers anyway. I will never give one shit about any laws that these idiots in politics make up.

I live by my own laws. Those same idiots start senseless wars over money and oil then send our kids to die for their riches.

I am glad they gave me my training and I will use it to survive what they are planning with the UN. There is no real law against pot, just a bunch of jackbooted thugs stealing money for their politician bosses.

They all go right home and smoke weed, snort coke and pop all their pills they get from their bogus doctors. That includes that stupid idiot drug czar which is another unconstitutional position made up by the criminals.

My guess is when it ends, all of them will be hanged for high treason so I would never work for the federal government.

The Drug Czar and his office are required (by Congressional mandate) to OPPOSE any effort to legalize any schedule 1 substance, including cannabis, for ANY reason, including medical. See for yourself:

According to Title VII Office of National Drug Control Policy Reauthorization Act of 1998: H11225:

Responsibilities. --The Director-- [...]

[responsibility #12]: (12) shall ensure that no Federal funds appropriated to the Office of National Drug Control Policy shall be expended for any study or contract relating to the legalization (for a medical use or any other use) of a substance listed in schedule I of section 202 of the Controlled Substances Act (21 U.S.C. 812) and take such actions as necessary to oppose any attempt to legalize the use of a substance (in any form) that--

1. is listed in schedule I of section 202 of the Controlled Substances Act (21 U.S.C. 812); and
2. has not been approved for use for medical purposes by the Food and Drug Administration;

And that is the unfortunate reason he said what he said in Fresno and the reason Walters was an idiot and McCaffery was no better .If they don't lie, they don't have a comfy DC job anymore.

Don't believe me?

I really wish this would get mentioned a lot more so that people can start to understand why the highest drug office in this country says outrageous things about cannabis. Please tell everyone you know. I think this ONDCP Act is being renewed in Congress this year...with a push we can eradicate this nonsense for good.

My name is Tommy Hawkins Jr., and I am a medical marijuana patient living in Fresno, CA.

I am appalled that our Drug Czar, Gil Kerlikowske, has come to my home town and declared that "marijuana is a dangerous drug and has no medical value."

President Obama has told us that there will be a policy change that will recognize medical marijuana users as legitimate in states with such laws.

When will this happen so that we don't have to listen to the same tired old rhetoric?

Once again, I am very disappointed with our Drug Czar, and I feel that he should return to Fresno and correct his false statements so that patients like myself will be properly represented.

this is typical i knew it wouldn't last. the new leader is the same as the old one and so on. first they claim it has no medical benefit but they make a fucking pill out of the "worst" part thc the stuff that gets you high. wtf is that all about. i'd figure that once a pill's been made from the plant all the nonsense about it's medical value would dissappear. but apparently i'm wrong. fuck em blaze till i die, or they kill me. peace love and bud.

Drug Czar is such a needless position. Its so meaningless they give him an intimidating title...CZAR. I laugh and blow smoke in his general direction

Unbelievable! Gil, your boy is in jail because you weren't there as a father for him, not because he was smoking cannabis. You've obviously chosen work over family. This is the problem with most of America's youth... lack of guidance, strength, and encouragement. Get yer facts straight Gil, and then preach the truth. Seattle is greatly disappointed in your change of heart.

Maybe the drug czar went to the same collage as Gov. Pawlenty. It seems that the polititions know more about medicine than politics. Maybe all the physisions should run the government. It seems that if I gave medical advise I would be arrested for practicing medicine without a license. Another double standard?

Don't you know by now you can't trust any of these MF's. They will sell you out and give you 20 years in a Federal or state prison in a heartbeat. They just LOVE to abuse sick and dying MMj patients who can't fight back. Yet they are just drooling to get the tax dollars from dispensaries. In fact they are just drooling to get any dollars. Dirty greedy pig people who feed off the citizens.

I don't understand where this comment comes from. It seems to fly in the face of everything Kerlikowske has been saying till now. Not to mention the fact that it's absolutely and completely false. Chronic-pain syndromes, cancer pain, multiple sclerosis, AIDS wasting syndrome, nausea that accompanies chemotherapy - marijuana has been PROVEN to help with these ailments. What the eff is Kerlikowske talking about.
