Photos have surfaced on a MySpace page dedicated to Jay Caliro, who died at Gathering of the Vibes on July 26 at Seaside Park in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Many believe Caliro was murdered by the so-called "Nitrous Mafia."
PeaT writes: "There is a lot of debait about what realy happend... And if you google his name you will read diffrent reports about what happend when he dieded... Bit this Page is not here to talk about jays Death. Its here to cellabrate his life.. sorry for all the spelling fuckups and typoes i can bearley think stright who cares about typeing?"
Also posted on the site: "To all of Jay's friends, We, the Bridgeport, Connecticut Police, are trying to determine exactly what happened to Jay. We are confident that his body was dumped in an empty campsite where he had not been staying. At this time, his cause of death is undetermined. However, his autopsy revealed no foul play and we are awaiting toxicology results which can take up to six weeks. We will honor any and all anonymous tips. Someone knows what happened to him and we would like to put his family at ease. Please contact Detective John Burke or Detective Lynn Gorman at 203-581-5233 or 203-581-5228. We are so very sorry about your friend. Thank you for your assistance."
PeaT mentions funeral services: "it will be up noth (portsmith nh) and Privite Familey only and its just going to be a small service.. Please Friends Respect there wishes... 1/2 of jays ashes will be sped on a beadh in the noth east.. the outher 1/2 will be spred out on a beach here in fl its looking like st.pete beach or seasta key beach..."
Erin posted this comment: "Jay - I can't believe you're gone. I have so many wonderful memories growing up together. Making forts in the bamboo bushes, catching salamanders, midnight tag with mandy and the beach. You were definitely my partner in crime. No matter how crazy our family got, we stayed in touch...and that means a lot to me. I'm so happy we ran into each other at Fenway, that hug almost knocked us to the ground…too long since we saw each other in person…unbelievable, thank god for the internet. I found a letter you sent me years ago, asking if I thought we'd ever see Phish again…we did. No matter what, I know your heart, and what a good person you are. You will be missed. I love you, and hope you are at peace."
A poem, written by Caliro's mom, ends: "Do not stand at my grave and cry / I am not there, I didn't die."

To those people who have nothing but negative things to say, I hope for your sake you never find yourself in a situation like this, grieving for your brother, sister, your parents, or for anyone you love, and then to see and hear the awful things that are being said. If you believe in Kharma then you should think about what you have to say, especially when you are broadcasting it all over the internet. Again, to Jay's friends, thank you and remember Jay is with us always.
Love and peace,
Patti, Jay's mom
