Tom Ammiano: 'Yes We Cannabis!' PDF Print E-mail
Friday, 25 September 2009 13:22

California Assemblyman Tom Ammiano believes his Marijuana Control, Regulation and Education Act will pass the legislature in the near future. "We have traction," he told the attendees of the 38th Annual NORML Conference this morning, "This is a serious issue, a public policy issue. I'm looking for the perfect storm."

Tom AmmianoAmmiano added: "The tone of the legislature is much more user-friendly. That's a pun. The political spectrum is very wide on this issue. Even the governor has said it should be on the table. This issue has gravitas."

The San Francisco politician acknowledged Harvey Milk and Dennis Peron in his brief speech. "This was the year of Harvey Milk," he stated. "He had a message of hope, so I'm extremely hopeful."

Interestingly, at one point Ammiano referred to himself as a celebrity stoner. He must be reading the site!

The NORML Conference runs through Sept. 26. Check out the panel schedule here
