Busted for Tax Evasion, Method Man Pays Fine PDF Print E-mail
Tuesday, 06 October 2009 04:20

More than six months after having a car repossessed, the government closed in on Method Man on Oct. 5, 2009, hitting him with a $33,000 unpaid IRS bill dating back to 2004. He was released without bail.

Last March, Meth (a.k.a. Clifford Smith) told CelebStoner that his wife's car had been repossessed and that he didn't have an accountant.

"My thing was, man - if the lights ain’t off yet, we good," Meth explained. "That’s the 'hood mentality. I can pay the shit tomorrow."

Apparently, he didn't, leading to his arrest and visit to Staten Island Criminal Court.

"I’m gonna tell you exactly how that shit happens," Meth added. "You go on the road and you forget things. When we go on the road, we go out for two to three months. From there we go overseas. We stay on the road, so by the time you come back shit is piled up."

Update: On June 28, 2010, Meth pled guilty to tax evasion and paid a $106,000 fine.
