Nearly three months after getting arrested for DUI in Georgia, the charge against Nas has been dismissed due to lack of evidence. Police contended the rapper was under the influence after smelling marijuana in his Escalade and observing what they call his "green tongue" during a traffic stop on Sept. 10.

Green tongue? That's a laugh. An appellate court in Washington state has written: "We can find no case stating that recent marijuana usage leads to a green tongue.”

Still, the Georgia State Troopers who pulled over Nas (Nasisr Jones) and his brother Jabari at 2:30 pm on 1-75 near Stockbridge and required Nas to take a sobriety test (see clip below) believed they had sufficient evidence to arrest Jones, who had apparently admitted to smoking sometime before entering the car.

According to the police report, Nas had “redding of the conjunctiva in both eyes, rebound dilation in both eyes, a green tongue with raised taste buds and his pulse was raised to 116 beats per minute." The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's Drug Evaluation and Classification Training Program lists "green tongue" as an indicator of pot use.

After being arrested and taken to Henry County Jail, Nas was drug tested. The test came back negative.

Nas has said his father, trumpeter Olu Dara, first turned him on to weed when he was nine years old. "I'd bug him for a hit and on a few occasions he let me hit it," recalls the Queens-born rapper. "Other kids didn't have fathers like that."

No doubt. Nas is currently working on Distant Relatives, a collaboration with Damian Marley.
