In several tweets sent to CelebStoner, Marijuana Policy Project Advisory Board member Adrianne Curry says embattledĀ MPP executive director Rob Kampia "has always been completely professional @ every event i went2 w/him. even the private ones, he has his game face on." Kampia admitted to sexual misconduct with female MPP employee.
|

Now we know you're insane.
How do you know "that is the reality of the situation" unless you were there that night?
Yes, numerous staff members (male and female) have resigned high paying jobs in a tough economic time because of a bogas scandal.
Rob's acted inapropriate at work, perhaps that's true. He's also dated people from work...very taboo. However, he's no monster and his behaviour (unfortunately) is hardly unusual.
None of Rob's real behaviour (which has already been addressed and ceased) is the reason that there is a scandal now. The scandal relates to an incedent that was completely fabricated. Now, his other antics may have left him open to something like this...that's true. It does not however make him guilty.
The reality of the situation is that Rob Kampia didn't force anyone to do anything, ever. Someone made up a lie for two reasons: 1) to try to restore a relationship with her boyfriend that would have frowned on the fact that she hooked-up with Rob (he was one of those that resigned, along with his roomate) and...2) money.
It's a sad situation for Rob, MPP, and the cause to end prohibition. It's also sad for the real victims of sexual abuse because lies like this make it harder for other women to come forward when there is real abuse....this is just sad for everyone.
Rob's a talented and passionate worker. I don't think anyone would doubt that. He also hasn't displayed the appropriate behaviour at work in the past, that's true. He is not someone that has broken any laws (other than smoking pot). He also has never forced anyone to do anything, ever. Also, YES...on the particular night in question - SHE was the one who initiated sex, not Rob. I know....amazing, but that is the reality of the situation and it is sad that he is going through this when it is not warranted.
1) You're flacking on this comment section is both naked and ridiculous
2) Members of MPP and the general public that has an interest in federally approved non-profit organizations need to immediately know how much money has been diverted from law reform efforts to paying off employees who've filed sexual harassment claims against Kampia.
Kampia may have some kind of psychological problem regarding sex and having professional relationships that he is seeking treatment for (Will the treatment work? What if it does not?), but MPP's board of directors has much to answer for as they are the legally responsible body (and potential subjects to lawsuits themselves because of Kampia's acknowledgedly bad behavior that created this mess).
As for Rob's dating and hitting on people at work (which is both taboo and a serious problem in general)...that's been handled, separately. He's admitted to that, apologized, taken sensitivity training...and more importantly - he's never done it again.
The irony is the one night (maybe it also happend once when he was in college) that the woman actually intitates sex with Rob...is the night that becomes a "scandal".
Whether or not the accusations have merit, either way it is still an unfortunate distraction to the movement. Here is hoping that the issue is resolved fairly and quickly, and that energy can continue being focused in the right direction.
If he showed a bare minimum of common sense, there would be no story to write.
You want someone to blame for this scandal? Blame Rob. It's time for him to go.
Is there not a long and established pattern of caddish and imprudent behavior from the conduit of Peter Lewis' pro-pot reform millions?
As more and more journalists, other non-profit organizations and the general public learn more about how MPP operates, and where all the money goes and why staff quit en mass, the better off supporters of reform will be.
Is it unusual for people to date within the workplace? Not really. Is it taboo, without a doubt.
This "scandal" is grossly overblown, completely unfair, and very unfortunate.
