Dallas Deals Josh Howard PDF Print E-mail
Monday, 15 February 2010 04:40

The Mavs moved pot-head forward Josh Howard to Washington in a seven-player trade. In 2008, Howard said, "Most of the players in the league use marijuana and I have and do partake in smoking weed in the off-season." With his expiring contract and sub-par stats, Dallas used Howard as the key chip to acquire Caron Butler and Brandon Haywood from the troubled Wizards.

Josh HowardThe former All-Star has averaged 15 points and six rebounds a game since entering the NBA seven years ago out of Wake Forest. But after off-season ankle and wrist surgeries, he's struggled (12.5 ppg, 3.6 rpg) to regain his touch.

With Gilbert Arenas and Javaris Crittenton suspended for having guns in the locker room and Butler, Haywood and DeShawn Stevenson now with the Mavs, Howard and Drew Gooden (also part of the trade, along with James Singleton and Quinton Ross) will be expected to spearhead the Wizards' revamped lineup.

Howard's earning $10.9 million in the last year of his contract.

UPDATE: On Feb. 22, Howard tore the ACL in his left knee. He'll be out for the rest of the season.
