Afeni Shakur-Davis, Tupac's 63-year-old mother, was arrested at her home in Lumbarton, North Carolina on Apr. 16. The State Division of Alcohol Enforcement charged her with possession of marijuana, possession of a controlled substance and maintaining a drug vehicle or dwelling. Her bail was $10,000.
It has not been revealed how much marijuana was confiscated during the raid. Even though cannabis is decriminalized in North Carolina, according to NORML, "possession of one half ounce or less is punishable by up to 30 days in jail, most likely suspended. Possession of greater than one half ounce is punishable by 1-120 days in jail, with a possibility of community service or probation in lieu of jail. Possession greater than 1.5 ounces increases the penalties to up to 12 months in jail."
Like mother like son, Tupac (above, with Afeni) smoked marijuana. "I'd ratha be ya N-I-G-G-A," he sang, "so we can get drunk and smoke weed all day."
A big blunt smoker, Tupac gave some instructions and explained why he preferred blunts to joints in the video below.
