'Dudus' Coke Captured in Jamaica PDF Print E-mail
Wednesday, 23 June 2010 18:03

Jamaican outlaw Christopher "Dudus" Coke" was nabbed outside Kingston on June 22. In May, violence broke out on the island when the government agreed to extradite Coke to the U.S. on drug trafficking charges. More than 70 people died, mostly Coke's supporters in West Kingston.

Police arrested Coke at a checkpoint on Mandela Highway in St. Catherine after a five-week standoff. Preet Bharara of the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York confirmed the arrest.

Update: Coke arrived in New York on June 24 and pled not guilty to all charges on June 25.

Known for his generosity, Coke is beloved by downtrodden Jamaicans. See "Leave Dudus Alone" photo here.
