Furthur Goes to Coney Island PDF Print E-mail

Bob Weir and Phil Lesh's latest incarnation of the Grateful Dead, known as Furthur (named for the Merry Pranksters' bus), rolled around the county this summer and stopped at New York's venerable amusement locale, Coney Island, for a couple of seaside shows on June 26-27.

Furthur posterIn addition to Dead mainstays Weir and Lesh, the band included guitarist John Kadlecik (Dark Star Orchestra), keyboardist Jeff Chimenti (RatDog) and drummer Joe Russo (Benevento Russo Duo).

Fans of the Dead's 1975 Blues for Allah album went to heaven during the Sunday night show. In addition to the first set "The Music Never Stopped," the band broke out "Blues for Allah" and the "Help on the Way/Slipknot!" > "Franklin's Tower" medley in the second.
