Bret Bogue Released from Mendocino Jail PDF Print E-mail
Friday, 28 January 2011 20:14

Marijuana industry entrepreneur Bret Bogue turned himself in to Mendocino authorities on Jan. 28. He was arrested on marijuana charges in Willits in 2006. Bogue began serving a six-month sentence at Mendocino County Jail in Ukiah, but on Mar. 7 was released on home monitoring, according to his wife, Jeanette (see comment below).

Bret BogueBogue was convicted on one count of maintaining a residence for the manufacture and storage of marijuana. His sentence includes three-years' probation and five years listed as a registered narcotics offender. Bogue owns Apothecary Genetics and the online learning program, Ggeco University.

One witness to the arrest says Bogue brought a large quantity of freshly harvested plants to a friend's house. During the trimming, police showed up. Bogue has long contended that he was set up.

A cancer survivor, Bogue currently requires surgery for several cysts. He also has enlarged prostate. Bogue and his attorney Edie Lehrman are appealing to the Sheriff as well as the court that he be able to have surgery before serving the sentence.

Confused
I just read a post on High Times and Rollitup and a couple others claiming Brett is nothing more than a snitch and a fraud. What is the deal? Why did Brett Bogus turn a collective over to the sheriff's department?

That's too bad. Bret's a cool intelligent respectful guy. Arrest violent offenders not nice people who aren't harming anyone but only helping people

Bret still remains in the county jail. He has been trying to get the sheriff to reconsider, and he said he would, if probation transferred him to Orange County, which is where we have been living since September 2009. Probation at the time of our move approved us, but didn't complete the transfer because Bret was on appeal. Now that he is done with his appeal, they have denied his probation transfer. Sheriff Allman says he may reconsider but will let our attorney know on Monday. If he denies home monitoring, then we can petition the courts.

This is another example of our paid for elected officials making continuous poor decisions and why it is so important to know who we're electing first. This is a medicine and ignorance needs a cure!

It is very sad to see our what is happing to our "land of the free". I dont think our founding fathers had sending sick people to jail in mind when they first created our legal system.

Bret has been serving his probation relating to this case since August 2008, while appealing his sentence. He will have already served his 3 years probation by the time his jail sentence is completed. He is asking for home monitoring.

It is impossible to believe that someone as visionary and community minded as Bret Bogue would be sent to jail for medical cannabis. We have to remember that this "War on Drugs" is far from over. Good luck Brett, and stay strong!!
