Tommy Chong on 'Franklin & Bash' PDF Print E-mail
Wednesday, 20 July 2011 16:54

Tommy Chong guests as a conservative judge on TNT's legal series, Franklin & Bash. In the latest episode ("The Bangover"), he hears a marijuana case. When Judge Tommy Harper says, "I've seen firsthand from this bench the effects of what prolonged marijuana use can do to a person," it's hard not to laugh.

Tommy Chong - Franklin & BashChong tells CelebStoner: "When you go before a judge on a pot charge you must expect harsh treatment, especially on television. I'm sorry, but when they hire you to act, that is what must be done. No room for rewrites with this show."

The storyline is actually fairly pot smart. Lili gets arrested with marijuana and candies she intended to smuggle back to London for a cancer sufferer because "UK pot isn't nearly as effective as California homegrown." "That's what I'm sayin'," Franklin (Breckin Meyer) seconds. However, the K-9 that sniffs out two ounces in her handbag at a party misses the muffins. Lili agrees to deportation rather than face a jail term. "If I were you, I'd get your pot-smmoking niece out of here before I change my mind about her deal," Harper tells Infeld Stanton (Malcolm McDowell). With his silver hair and beard, and creased brow, Chong looks good in the judge's robe. Like his comedy partner Cheech Marin, he plays against type here and why not?

Chong's last TV role was hippie Foto Hut owner Leo on That '70s Show.

The stoner funnyman also reveals to CelebStoner that he and Cheech "just finished shooting a commercial for General Mills for their Magic Brownies. They're putting a Magic Brownie on the market and we're their 'stoner spokesmen!'" No word yet what will make the brownies so "magical."
