Posthumously Ben Masel and Michelle Rainey. Cheryl Shuman, Rebecca Forbes, Michelle LeMay and Stephanie Bishop are all outstanding women in the mj/mmj movement. Steve Kubby for bringing sense finally to legalization in California. Tonya Davis and Theresa Danellio of Ohio for their tireless efforts to bring two mmj initiatives to that state. I could go on. Maybe even someday me.

You should look into my husband, Michael Adam Assenberg. He really should be on this list. Check out Marijuana Fact or Fiction

Also, Eddy Lepp should be on this list.

What a joke! If people like Jodie Emery are there and I am not. No one was able to get a mainstream political party to say they would re-legalize cannabis for 43 years. I did it in 2007 with the Green. Well, we know this is only a list of people they like or know. Emery tried to put out a list like this years ago as well, and then as now I am glad I am again overlooked. But I laughed my face off about who is on it and more importantly who is not...

Great list! I'd love to add Frank D from CannabisFacts.ca - I just can't say enough about the hard work and hours he puts towards changing our Ccnnabis laws here in Canada. Thanks for everything you do, FrankD!!

I also hope to make this list one day. :-D

Lots of good people on the list. Here are a few more:

• Michael Krawitz (Veterans for Medical Cannabis Access, international activist and more)
• Jon Gettman, PhD (author and leader of the Coalition to Reschedule Cannabis)
• Cathy Jordan (25-year ALS survivor and activist)
• Bryan Krumm (nurse practitioner and co-author of the NM medical cannabis bill)
• Ed Glick (primary petitioner in OR to add post-traumatic stress and other mental health problems to the list of cannabis recommendations)
• George McMahon (federal cannabis patient in IA)
• Mark Pederson (editor of the Medical Cannabis Journal, founder of the Cannabis Patient Network, Sensible Missouri)
• Melanie Dreher, RN, PhD (cannabis use during pregnancy researcher)
• Gary Storck (co-founder of IMMLY)
• Denis Petro, MD (provided defense testimony for numerous cannabis patients)
• Ethan Russo, MD (prolific cannabis author and primary investigator in the Missoula study)
• David Bearman, MD (fought the CA medical board to maintain cannabis patient privacy and co-founder of the American Academy of Cannabinoid Medicine)
• Carl Olsen, (Iowans for Medical Marijuana; got IA Board of Pharmacy to reschedule cannabis)
• Len Richmond (filmmaker of What if Cannabis Cured Cancer)
• Jed Riffe (filmmaker of Waiting to Inhale)

Two more from Canada:
• Marco Renda (editor of Treating Yourself)
• Philippe Lucas (former director of the Vancouver Island Compassion Society).

I'm sure I missed some other great folks. We need to continue our efforts - the truth will prevail.

Dragonfly De La Luz! How could I have possibly forgotten her?! She raised many concerns about the ability of courts to "freely reinterpret" so many parts of Prop 19 last year. She may well have saved California by causing enough critical thinking before the vote.

"Granny Storm Crow" deserves to be high up on this list! Check out Granny Storm Crow's List

Dr. Tod Mikuriya should also be noted, if only for his list of known medicinal conditions which cannabis has been shown to benefit, ESPECIALLY the ones he noted as being both known and documented BEFORE 1937 when this medical proof was deliberately suppressed in order to maintain alcohol prohibitionists' job security.
35 Wednesday, 03 August 2011 09:33
Mike Cann Crawford
And Whitney Taylor, the lady that led the ballot initiative for decriminalized marijuana in MA.
34 Wednesday, 03 August 2011 09:03
Shaleen
What a wonderful list! If I had to pick one greatest omission I'd say Irina Alexander of CJPF and SSDP, and the hardest-working person in drug policy that I know of.
33 Wednesday, 03 August 2011 08:42
Irina Alexander
Don't forget Jon Perri, West Coast Associate Director for Students for Sensible Drug Policy! He deserves just as much recognition as Stacia and Aaron!

Irina Alexander, the chair of the SSDP Board of Directors, as well as Chief of Staff for the Criminal Justice Policy Foundation, should be on here!

Thank you, Mr. Bloom! I'd also add, Bill Downing and Scott Matalon. If it wasn't for the three of us, MassCann/NORML's Boston Freedom Rally would not be on two stages bigger than ever with more sponsorships. Expecting record crowds once again. Mr. Downing handles all the vending. Mr. Matalon is the Allston Board of Trade President and he helped us land some excellent contracts and sponsorships with major media.

Patients Out of Time appreciates the inclusion of 12 members of POT in your recent honor roll of cannabis advocates.

Admitting to bias I must write that Mike Krawitz, my co-founder of Veterans for Medical Cannabis Access, and principally responsible for US Veterans in legal cannabis states to be able to be treated with cannabis in Veterans Administration facilities, needs to be on your top list. This was a remarkable achievement and done while suffering a 100% Air Force duty disability.

Oh, how much longer will we fight the changing tide? We should have had this plant in consumption for many things many years ago. I commend the hard work of all of you do. Surely the world will awaken to its tremendous uses and benefits to mankind through hard work and humanitarianism hoping we can put this behind us and go on to kind natural cures and help so many suffering people in the world as it has been here for man for 4,000 years. Thanks to all the hard work and dedication, my friends...

Rhonda Shade from Las Vegas is someone I think should be on the list. I don't think a lot of people know she wrote a bill (AB235) this year that would allow safe access to Nevada's medical marijuana patients. She worked hard all by herself and got it sponsored by Assemblyman Paul Aizley in this legislative session. And she started a non-profit organization called HEMMP (Helping Empower Medical Marijuana Patients) to help bring the medical marijuana community together. She is not just a patient, she is my mom and my hero. Because of her I know anything is possible. That is why I think she should be on the list. Thank you.

You forgot Tim Martin of John Doe Radio, and Wayward Bill of Mile High NORML. Both are very active in the Colorado Cannabis community. And don't forget about Jessica Peck-Corry, co-founder of the Women's Marijuana Movement.

DRAGONFLY DE LA LUZ should certainly be on this list! Her Stoners Against Prop 19 campaign opened many peoples' eyes and showed them the fatal flaws of Prop 19 and why it was necessary for us to oppose it. If that thing had passed, smoking a joint with my 20-year-old girlfriend would get me BUSTED. It was the wrong path to legalization, and most pot activists supported it blindly, without even reading the initiative. DRAGONFLY DE LA LUZ encouraged us to read it for ourselves and see that it was not what it claimed to be. She deserves some recognition for that!

Two people who have done a great deal towards the medicinal cannabis end of the spectrum which I consider to be GLARING OMISSIONS are Rick Simpson and Richard Brumfield.

Alison Myrden also comes to mind - she's done some great work educating others and promoting Law Enforcement Against Prohibition (LEAP).

I'd also wish that the cannabis community took note of Seeva Cherms, who fought tooth and nail for years right beside Jack Herer.

One point that I would like to note is that this is a list of people who have contributed, either in small part, in huge measure, or somewhere in between. It is NOT a list of "People who should never be questioned" or "people who should be followed blindly."

Noticeably missing are activists from Michigan like John Sinclair, Tim Beck, Dan Solano, Rev Steve Thompson, Joe Cain, Adam Brook, myself and many more.

No Rob Kampia? Seriously? Sexual predator though he may be, you cannot deny his well deserved status as a leading pot activist. I see a lot of other drug policy reform generalists who don't limit themselves to marijuana are missing too. Per usual, plenty of the circle jerk preach to the choir lets trade awards at our respective conferences crowd. You know who you are.

Ryan Denham who ran both campaigns in AR (Eureka Springs and Fayetteville) and is now running the state initiative campaign for medical there! He deserves a spot for sure!

D. Fornbacher
We tried to include as many people as possible but there was such an insurmountable legion of activists, it was hard to include them all. It won't be our last list but if we had included everyone, we might have had to publish an actual book. What we also tried to do was put a lot of newer people in there who have been making strides. It is by no means a complete and exhaustive list and it certainly won't be our last!

Thanks to all those out there making a difference and changing the world for the better.

Thanks for the shout out, CelebStoner!

Sunil Aggarwal - turned the AMA around

Michael Krawitz - got the VA to establish policy accepting MMJ use for vets who reside in med can states

Todd Dalotto of Cannabis Research Committee & Advisory Committee on Medical Marijuana - turned up to 2,000% increase on med can card fees as of July 1 into a hearing to discuss alternative fee structure to meet the revenue goals (Oregon now wants med can money for the Health Authority budget) and has reintroduced and gotten some hope on getting PTSD added as a qualifying condition and also making the process to add conditions more fair.

Christine McGarvin and Russel Gould of Institute for Cannabis Therapeutics - complied data so when we went to present to legislature that the abuse of the LEDS system is from law enforcement, which pretty much took the wind out of the sails of the bad bills (there were 29 of them) and put the entire community on much more solid ground with legislators.

Robert Wolfe of OMPI - he somehow got consensus and folks working together to fight the bad bills even though most activists in Oregon, especially the leadership, cannot stand one another. He pulled of a not so little miracle.

What about NJ Weedman? Can't think of his real name right now. Seems like a glaring ommission to me.
