Rock & roll pioneer Johnny Otis died on Jan. 17. He was 90. Otis is best known for his 1958 hit single, "Willie and the Hand Jive," which has been covered by everyone from Eric Clapton to the Grateful Dead (see below). The song with the Bo Diddley beat is about a "hand dance," though some believe it's an ode to masturbation.
