Top CelebStoners Brad Pitt and Jonah Hill were nominated for Academy Awards for their roles as execs in Moneyball. The baseball flick was all so nominated for Best Picture and Adapted Screenplay. The Descendants won.
Terrence Malick's head-trip, The Tree of Life, was also among the Best Picture nominees, along with Alexander Payne's The Descendants and Woody Allen's Midnight in Paris. The Artist won. Malick, Allen, Payne and Martin Scorsese (Hugo) received Directing nods. Michel Hazanavicius won for The Artist.
George Clooney (The Descendants) and Demian Bichir (A Better Life) join Pitt in the Actor in a Leading Role category. Bichir played Esteban in Weeds. Jean Dujardin won for The Artist.
Hill's nomination as Actor in a Supporting Role is a huge accomplishment for the comic actor. Nick Nolte (Warrior) is also nominated in the category. Both lost to Christopher Plummer for Beginners.
Golden Globe and Spirit Award winner Michelle Williams (My Week with Marilyn) was also nominated in the Actress in a Lead Role category. Meryl Streep won for The Iron Lady.
Bridesmaids is competing in two categories: Original Screenplay (Annie Mumolo & Kristen Wiig) - Woody Allen won for Midnight in Paris - and Actress in a Supporting Role (Melissa McCarthy) - Octavia Spenser won for The Help.
If a Tree Falls (The Story of the Earth Liberation Front) is nominated in the Documentary category. Undefeated won.
Rango, featuring Top CelebStoner Johnny Depp as the title character, won Best Animated Feature.
Flight of the Conchords co-star won Best Song for "Man or Muppet" from The Muppets.
Top CelebStoners Cameron Diaz, Owen Wilson and Zach Galifianakis were among the presenters.
