Potency vs. yield Print E-mail

Tiny Bomb Great things sometimes come in small packages. Incredible Tiny Bomb has so much resin, it’s almost like hash. At the same time, Tiny is absolutely the worst yielding plant I've ever grown. I put two of these in one pot trying to conserve space and add to my head stash, but I had yet to get more than a jar full from one plant - until I added CO2...

Freddie's Dead: Requiem for a Jazz Heavyweight Print E-mail
Steve Bloom
Tuesday, 30 December 2008
Freddie Hubbard I knew Freddie Hubbard, the great jazz trumpeter who died on Dec. 29 in Los Angeles. He'd suffered a heart attack a month earlier and succumbed to complications while in Sherman Oaks Hospital. He was 70 years old. I first interviewed Freddie (no one referred to him by his last name, as is customary in the jazz world) in 1978 for the Soho Weekly News in New York. I was a young music journalist who had lucked into jazz assignments for Down Beat....

Introducing CelebStoner blogger John Sinclair Print E-mail
John Sinclair
Friday, 19 December 2008
Sinclair poster Thirty-seven years ago this month John Sinclair was released from a Michigan jail where he was serving a 10-year sentence for selling two joints to a narc. It took a special concert - featuring John Lennon and Yoko Ono, Stevie Wonder. Phil Ochs and many more - to spring Sinclair. Just three days after the John Sinclair Freedom Rally, he was released. Sinclair now lives in Amsterdam, where he writes his On the Road blog. CelebStoner will be periodically posting excerpts from John's blog. This is our first...

Obama on drug legalization Print E-mail

Obama illo Stoners have been abuzz about the overwhelming support for marijuana legalization at the changes.gov site where questions are posed to President-elect Obama. Though S. Man's pro-pot query received the most votes, the site posted the following response on Monday: "President-elect Obama is not in favor of the legalization of marijuana." Sure, that's disappointing, but it's not a flip-flop in any way. In 2004, Obama stated the following...

Bambu sues Obambu t-shirt maker Print E-mail
Dave Green
Monday, 15 December 2008
Obambu Bambu is suing Love Fatigues for trademark infringement based on their t-shirts depicting President-elect Obama's image in the familiar Bambu logo that incorporates the Bambu stylized letters to spell "'Obama" and replaces the "Winking Spaniard" in the Panama hat with Obama's face. While I think it's an unnecessary lawsuit and a publicity stunt, Bambu will probably win.

Chris Martin Joe Satriani The recent lawsuit by Joe Satriani vs. Coldplay may be one of the first major copyright infringement suits between musicians that is playing itself out on YouTube. At issue is Coldplay's "Viva La Vida," the Grammy-nominated song from their Grammy-nominated album, Viva la Vida or the Death of All His Friends. Satriani claims that "Viva" plagiarizes his 2004 song, "If I Could Fly." Inside: Watch YouTube clips

What's so hot about purple pot? Print E-mail
Subcool
Monday, 08 December 2008
Black Russian Stoners love the color purple, especially when it's something they smoke. But CelebStoner blogger Subcool thinks purple plants are "not necessarily synonymous with high potency or indicative of quality in any form other than looks." That's why his own Black Russian strain, which he describes as having "a weird taste of musk and pepper that overpowered the nice grape smell" is no longer available, However, there is one purple strain Subcool does recommend...

End Marijuana Prohibition Now! Print E-mail
John Biz
Thursday, 04 December 2008
Devil's Harvest poster The confluence of Barack Obama's election, the financial crisis and the 75th anniversary of the repeal of alcohol Prohibition has many pundits suggesting it's time to repeal marijuana Prohibition as well. CelebStoner blogger John Biz writes: "Let's reconsider our national stance on this natural resource as part of the solution to the problems we currently face."

Roasting Cheech & Chong Print E-mail

Shelby, Tommy, Tom Arnold & Cheech Like millions of other stoners, I watched Cheech & Chong: Roasted on TBS. Having split up in the '80s after many years as the country's top pot comics and recently reunited for their Light Up America tour, Cheech & Chong were ripe to be roasted...

The Theory of Infinite Dankage Print E-mail

Apollo-13 Let’s just say a plant has a determined amount of what we call dank. I don’t think I need to define this. It seems to me that a faded plant will produce less total mass, therefore creating more dank per gram on the plant. Does this make any sense? Have you ever grown a plant that was just sickly as hell, all yellow and shit, but the bud from this plant tasted better than normal?
