Slightly Stoopid frontman Miles Doughty has issued a statement exclusively to CelebStoner about the recent incident during which the band had a half ounce of pot and some bongs confiscated by border officials and were fined $3,000 en route to Fargo, North Dakota. "This is just another example of glorified security guards using their power the wrong way," Doughty declares. "We're musicians and we smoke marijuana. I don't understand how they could mix that up with drug dealers. I guess they're not fans of music." Inside: Smokin' Stoopid Photo Gallery
Digging through the FAQ in the Mass.gov website, we found some pertinent points about Question 2 - the pot-decriminalization law that went into effect yesterday in Massachusetts. While marijuana possession will now be a civil offense punishable by a $100 fine, the law expands the definition of possession to include "having metabolized products of marijuana or THC in one’s bloodstream" and allows for "forfeiture of the contraband." However, if cited, you won't lose your driver's license and can still purchase a firearm. Inside: Question 2 FAQ
The selection of CNN's Sanjay Gupta as Surgeon General by President-elect Obama does not bode well for recreational marijuana smokers. In 2006, the well-known surgeon wrote a column in Time, "Why I Would Vote No on Pot." At the time, Nevada and Alaska had tax-and-regulate initiatives on the ballot. "I'm here to tell you, as a doctor," Gupta warned, "that despite all the talk about the medical benefits of marijuana, smoking the stuff is not going to do your health any good." Ballsy and often out of control, High Society: A Potboiler is the kind of offbeat comedy Seth Rogen wishes he could make. Currently on the festival circuit, Kristian Davies' audacious directorial debut features five stoners (three men, two women) who basically sit around and smoke pot for 90 minutes. The highlight scene comes when they all spark up tulip joints (right). “I’m a marijuana hero," brags Trajan (Davies’ brother Erik).
