Montel Williams and Melissa Etheridge Enter the Green Rush

There seems to be no end in sight for celebrities making inroads into the cannabis industry. In the last week, both Montel Williams (LenitivLabs) and Melissa Etheridge (Etheridge Farms) declared that they're moving ahead with corporate plans.

At the CWCBExpo at the Los Angeles Convention Center on Sept. 9, the former TV talk show host and MS sufferer Williams told the crowd during his keynote speech that he was about to launch a personal line of medical marijuana products, including new delivery systems and extracts.

"I'm putting my face right on the box," he said. "I support legalization because it will grant access to more patients."

Etheridge was also at the convention, moderating the sports panel that focused on how cannabis (mostly CBD) can help players who suffer from various injuries and disorders. However, the singer didn't hype her new product line, which she revealed in Billboard  on Sept. 4.

"I'm in the process of branding," she said about Etheridge Farms. "There's a balm that's good for muscles and arthritis. I have my own smoke, some edibles and some [oil] cartridges… I just feel strongly about the medical aspects of cannabis."

After Etheridge was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2004, she discovered the medicinal powers of marijuana. "My stress level and all the things I felt contributed to my cancer 12 years ago, I absolutely treat them everyday by smoking cannabis," she added.

Williams and Etheridge join an ever growing list of celebrities that are branding cananbis products, including Snoop Dogg, Willie Nelson, the Bob Marley Estate, Tommy Chong, Whoopi Goldberg, Wiz Khalifa and 311.
