Mary Louise-Parker has been nominated again for her role as pot-dealing Nancy Botwin in Weeds, but the show was shut out in the Emmys' Outstanding Comedy Series category. The 2008 nominations, announced today, include ones for Amy Poehler, George Carlin and Real Time with Bill Maher, and multiple nominations for The Daily Show, The Colbert Report, Flight of the Conchords, Entourage, Saturday Night Live, Late Night with Conan O'Brien and Sarah Silverman.

Hip-hop star Nas first inhaled marijuana at a young age, thanks to his jazz trumpet playing dad, Olu Dara. "He'd be in the house smoking weed," Nas recalls. "He gave me weed when I was, like, nine years old. That was cool. I'd bug him for a hit, and on a few occasions he let me hit it. Other kids didn't have fathers like that."

Earlier this month, as thousands of peaceful campers celebrated life and nature at the annual national Rainbow Gathering in Western Wyoming, armed police went on site and arrested at lease five people, causing a major confrontation. Though news accounts said the Rainbows threw sticks and stones at the police, several video clips posted at YouTube show an angry crowd upset with the invasion of their campground, but not at all violent. Eighteen-year-old Texas stoner Christian Phillips allegedly baked a batch of pot cookies and delivered them to several Dallas-Fort Worth area police stations, saying they were gifts from MADD - Mothers Against Drunk Driving.
