Utah Court Dismisses Pot Charges Against Russ Belville

Radio personality and marijuana activist "Radical Russ" Belville at the Boston Freedom Rally.

En route to the Cannabis Cup, pot activist "Radical Russ" Bellville was arrested for marijuana possession during a traffic stop on I-84 in Snowville, Utah.

Belville and one other person in the vehicle were charged with marijuana and paraphernalia possession and taken to Box Elder Country Jail in Brigham City on Apr. 17. They both bailed out and continued on to Denver.

In posts at Facebook, Belville claims they were profiled at a rest stop and pulled over by Utah police shortly thereafter for having tinted windows, an Oregon license plate and a passenger with dreads. Belville was traveling from his home in Portland.

The stop took place a 10:22 am; the pair were released at 6 pm. The other person arrested was Brian Wilson (a.k.a Brian the Red.) Belville's bail was $1,116; Wilson's was $3,572.

Update: On July 7, the charges against Belville were dismissed.

Belville is best known for this daily 420 Radio show. He also writes for High Times and other marijuana websites. His first name is John, but he goes by the name "Radical Russ."
