Scare Tactics in Florida Over Medical Marijuana

The anti-marijuana forces in Florida want people to think that Amendment 2 will legalize pot in the Sunshine State. This is a bald lie. It's strictly limited to medical use.

In the ad below, a marijuana cookie is laughably described as "the new face of Date Rape."

In the video below, we're told that Amendment 2 "legalizes drug dealers, allows teens to buy pot without parental consent, offers special legal protection to pot docs and promises to plant pot shops in a neighborhood near you. Sure, they call it medical marijuana, but that's not what it is. A vote for Amendment 2 is a vote to legalize pot smoking in the Sunshine State."

Update: In the 30-second spot below, the No on 2 campaign contends that caregiver is just another name for drug dealer. "I'm mad as hell," says United for Care's John Morgan. "They use scare tactics to demonize caregivers - the people who take on the daunting task of caring for their friends and family members who can't care for themselves. Guys like Robert Jordan - who gets busted for taking care of his wife Cathy, with ALS.  Or guys like me - who risked jail to bring relief to his father and brother. It's offensive, tone-deaf and yet they're blasting it out everywhere with millions of dollars behind it."

Read the wording of Amendment 2, which will be voted on Nov. 4, here.
