Oh Canada: Three More Deaths at Music Fests

The Veld Music Festival, where two fans died, took place in Downsview Park in Toronto on Aug 2-3.

It was a rough weekend at Canadian music festivals as three attendees died and more than 100 were hospitalized at Veld Fest in Toronto and Boonstock in Briitsh Columbia. Just two weeks ago a death was reported at the Pemberton Fest, also in BC.

In Toronto, the two concertgoers who died have ben identified as 22-year-old Willard Amurao and 20-year-old Annie Truong-Le. Police report that “some people were taking upwards of 10 pills, some people were picking up pills on the ground.” The pills that allegedly caused the deaths were brown and a clear capsule containing white powder (most likely Molly or Ecstasy, or GHB).

The Veld Music Festival, in Downsview Park, produced by INK Entertainment, featured EDM (Armin Van Buuren, Calvin Harris) and hip-hop artists (Iggy Azalea, Waka Flocka Flame).

The Boonstock Music & Arts Festival in Pendicton, BC was headlined by Macklemore & Ryan Lewis and Armin Van Buuren. Twenty-five year-old Lynn Tolocka died at the camping event  on Aug. 1.
