High on Will Hill: Ravens Sign Suspended Safety

Will Hill is no longer a New York Giant after he failed his third drug test in the last three years.

Talk about mixed messages. Will Hill, who after his third suspension for violating the NFL's sustance abuse policy in the last three years, was signed by the Baltimore Ravens yesterday.

In the case of Hill, it's three times and you're in:

• In 2012, he was suspended four games for testing positive for Adderall.

• In 2013, he was suspended four games for testing positive for marijuana.

• In 2014, he was suspended six games for testing positive for marijuana.

After his third offense, the Giants cut Hill loose. Then the Ravens swoopd right in and signed the safety, who can play in exhibition games, but must sit out the first six games of the upcoming regular season.

Hill says he began smoking marijuana to cope with the stress of growing up in East Orange, New Jersey. "I was visiting back to my hometown and a guy pulled a shotgun out on me right there in a park for some money," he explains. "How do you deal with those situations? You really can't, so I just dealt with it the best way I knew how."

After failing several tests, the Giants sent Hill to treatment clinics in Boston and Parsippany, New Jersey. Undrafted because of similar problems he had while attending the University of Florida, Hill signed with the Giants in 2012. He had two interceptions in the 12 games he played in 2013.
