Padre Suspended for Speeding

Cameron Maybin failed his second drug test for amphetamine use and was suspended for 25 games by MLB.

San Diego Padres outfielder Cameron Maybin has ADD and a Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE) from Major League Baseball to take certain drugs. But he still ran afoul of the league's program and has been suspended for 25 games.

Maybin's agent Brian Goldberg says his client had a "new TUE for a different but similar medication that was not working to his liking. His mistake was that he assumed he could go back to the original medication that he had TUEs for the previous couple of years. The only substances involved were two properly prescribed ADD medications for different times."

Adderall and Ritalin are among the better known amphetamines used to medicate for Attention Deficit Disorder. Maybin's the first major leaguer to be suspended on a drug violation this season. This is his second failed drug test, hence the suspension.

Maybin is hitting .247 in his fourth season with the Padres.
