What the Duck: Oregon Receiver Banned from Title Game for Pot

Oregon’s second-leading receiver Darren Carrington was on the sidelines for the College Football Championship Game.

Oregon wide receiver Darren Carrington was suspended by the NCAA for failing a drug test for marijuana and had to sit out the College Football Championship Game vs. Ohio State on Jan. 12.

It was a huge blow to the Ducks, who lost the game, 42-20. Carrington had a monster game against Florida State in the Rose Bowl with 165 yards on seven receptions and two touchdowns. He's considered their second-best wideout with a team-leading 19 yards per catch average.

Carrington is what's known as a redshirt freshmen. He played at Horizon HIgh in San Diego.
