In ’Super High Me,’ Doug Benson smoked pot for 30 straight days

Stoner comic Doug Benson is best known for his starring roles in Super High Me, The Marijuana-Logues and The Benson Interruption. He regularly performs stand-up in clubs around the country.

Born on May 7, 1964 in San Diego, Benson began telling jokes on stage in his early 20s. This led to a comedy career during which he met Arj Barker and Tony Camin, whom he teamed up with to write and perform The Marijuana-Logues - an off-Broadway pro-pot play that ran from 2004-2005 in New York.

In 2006, Benson hosted the Stony Awards and was named Stoner of the Year by High Times. He began contributing punchlines to Best Week Ever and then decided to star in Super High Me, his send-up of Morgan Spurlock's Super Size Me - with buds instead of burgers.

Benson's live shows began being augmented by "interruptions," where he'd sit in the audience and heckle performers he introduced, such as Sarah Silverman and Zach Galifianikis. Comedy Central booked seven episodes of The Benson Interruption in 2010.

In 2012, Benson and fellow comic Graham Elwood appeared in The Greatest Story Ever Rolled (another goof on Spurlock, who directed The Greatest Movie Ever Sold), which follows the duo as they tour the country.

He returned to Comedy Central in 2017 as Judge Doug on The High Court with Doug Benson. The show (each episode lasted 15 minutes) ran for one season and 20 episodes. His co-stars included Tiffany Haddish, Reggie Watts and Todd Glass.

Benson's podcasts include Doug Loves Movies, Getting Doug with High and his latest, Wide World of Dougs.

He's recorded several comedy albums, including Unbalanced Load and Professional Humoredian.

After CelebStoner Legend George Carlin died in June 2008, Benson called him "easily one of my biggest influences growing up and proof that a pot smoker can be a prolific and inspiring person and artist."

About being voted Top CelebStoner, Benson quipped, "I can't think of a bigger honor. Because I am high."

Benson lives in Los Angeles. He's single.
