Brandy Clark - 'Get High'

Brandy Clark: "Sometimes the only way to get by is to get high."

With Kacey Musgraves, Ashley Monroe and Eric Church openly singing about weed, it's been a terrific year for country music and marijuana. Now it's Brandy Clark's turn.

"Sometimes the only way to get by is to get high," she sings on "Get High." "When the to-dos have all been done/ She sits down at the kitchen table and rolls herself a fat one."

Clark, who's gay, is one of the hottest songwriters in country music. Hailing from Morton, Washington, she came to Nashville 15 years ago with a pocket full of songs and a guitar. Clark's penned tunes with Musgraves (they wrote "Follow Your Arrow" together), and for Reba McEntire, The Band Perry, Miranda Lambert, Sheryl Crow, Keith Urban and more.

Her debut album 12 Stories was released in October. The fourth track, "Get High," is a brassy ode to marijuana. All the woman portrayed in the song wants is "a couple of tokes and her troubles don't seem all that tall."
