Jones came up with the the chorus and his lyrics while Royal penned his. “I wrote this song at a time when I was busy doing a lot of things outside of music," Jone$ says. “Every night after work I’d sit outside in my garden and smoke and I’d feel good in that moment; like that was my escape. One of those nights I just wanted to put that feeling into song. I pulled up the beat from Io (producer/artist Iotosh) and it all came together right there. I was saving it for the right feature, so when Jesse heard it a few months later and started writing his verse on the spot, I knew that was it. It was all organic so that was dope.”

The main repeat line in the song goes:

"Weed mek me feel good"

Jone$ calls himself a "multi-dimensional artist" and it shows on this catchy pop-reggae track. Since its release on Oct. 22, the YouTube video has garnered more than 130,000 views. "The Weed Song" is on Jone$'s upcoming EP, Man A Yard. Royal's most recent album Royal came out in March.
