Celebrities love the Hamptons on New York's Long Island. Jimmy Buffett and CelebStoner Paul McCartney regularly hung out together in Sag Harbor. Two summers ago, Buffett, McCartney and their wives Jane Slagsvol and Nancy Shevell and friends had dinner at McCartney and Shevell's house.

Buffett, who passed away on September 1, picked up the story from there:

“We went to sit down and Nancy was my dinner partner and Paul was down next to Jane at the other end of the table with like 20 people on it. And when Nancy went to sit down she kind of stumbled a little bit and I said, ‘Whoa, are you okay? You okay?‘ And she said, ‘No, no, I’m okay. My gummie just kicked in.‘ And then I said, ‘Can I have that line?‘ And then, from down at the end of the table I heard, ‘Whoa, whoa, whoa Jim, Jim, what’s going on up there?‘ It was Paul and I said, ‘Stay down there. This is your wife and I working on this thing.‘”

It's the genesis of Buffett's posthumous high tune, "The Gummies Just Kicked In," from his upcoming final album, Equal Strain on All Parts.

Buffett sent the song to McCartney, who was in L.A. working on new material, and asked if he would play on it. Macca initially declined, then thought otherwise a couple of months later.

“He said, ‘You know, if you need somebody to play bass…’ I wanted to say, ‘Nah, I got somebody else.’ But I got to be very honest because at times you go, ‘That’s Paul McCartney in there playing on your song.’“

McCartney's seen on bass in the video below.
