An American flag made of hemp was hoisted above the Colorado capitol to celebrate Hemp History Week on June 11 in Denver.
When he was Congressman, now Gov. Jared Polis did the same at the U.S. Capitol on July 4, 2013.
The Denver flag was made by Mike Lewis and the Kentucky Cloth Project.
"We're proud to be supporting the capacity of Colorado farmers through regulatory reform, workforce development, market expansion [and] international commercial outreach to find the opportunities for the hemp industry," Polis stated.
The Washington, DC flag was made by Hemp HoodLamb, a clothing company with stores in Denver and Amsterdam. "It came out interesting," said Adam Dunn. "It's slightly washed-out-looking so it has an antique vibe."
The 11th-annual Hemp History Week took place from June 6-12.
