MPP Tackles the NFL's Pot Policy

MPP to NFL: ’Stop driving players to drink. A safer choice is now legal (here).’

More NFL players get arrested and suspended for marijuana than any other pro athletes. With this in mind, the MPP is directing its attention at the NFL for "punishing players for using marijuana."

They've purchased billboard space adjacent to Denver's Sports Authority Field, where the Broncos opened the season on Sept. 5. "Stop driving players to drink!" the billboard, adorned with a mug of beer and a football, reads. "A safer choice is now legal (here)."

Of course, Colorado legalized marijuana last November. "Now that the U.S. Justice Department has announced that states are allowed to legalize marijuana for adults or for medical use, the NFL should also recognize and respect those laws," the MPP's change.org petition reads in part. "The NFL’s harsh marijuana penalties do nothing to promote the health and safety of the players. If anything, they put them in danger by steering them toward using alcohol and away from making the safer choice to use marijuana instead."
