Flashback: When Aron Kay Pied Jerry Brown

Califiornia Gov. Jerry Brown licks his fingers after being pied by Aron Kay in 1979.

Back in the '70s Yippie activist Aron Kay was famous for pieing public figures. He hit California Gov. Jerry Brown smack in the head on Oct. 25, 1979.

Brown took the pastry attack lightly, licking the Lemon Coconut pie that Kay launched at him as he entered Cooper Union in New York.

Kay posted the Washington Post clip from 1979 after reading Brown's recent statement about marijuana. "I think we need to stay alert, if not 24 hours a day, more than some of the potheads might be able to put together," Brown, who is the current governor of California, said on Meet the Press.

Contends Kay: "Jerky Brown still deserves the pie I threw at him in 1979 for his anti-pot statements."

The Pie-Man, as he's affectionately known, nailed the likes of William Colby, G. Gordon Liddy, E. Howard Hunt, Patrick Moynihan and Abe Beame during his heyday in the '70s.
