Miley Cyrus Wins Coveted Video of the Year Award

Miley Cyrus wags her famous tongue for the paparazzi on the red carpet at the 2014 MTV Music Video Awards.

Miley Cyrus is the new Queen of MTV. She defeated Beyonce, Iggy Azalea, Pharrell Williams and Sia on Aug. 25 to take the MTV Video of the Year Award for "Wrecking Ball."

Unlike at the European MTV Awards last November in Amsterdam where she lit up a joint on stage during her acceptance for "Wrecking Ball," Cyrus allowed a young homeless dude named Jesse to accept in her behalf and give a brief speech about Los Angeles' homeless youth population.

The eight big winners of the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards are:

• Video of the Year: Miley Cyrus' "Wrecking Ball"
• Best Male Video: Ed Sheeran's "Sing"
• Best Female Video: Katy Perry's "Dark Horse"
• Best Pop Video: Ariana Grande's "Problem"
• Best Rock Video: Lordes' "Royals"
• Best Hip-Hop Video: Drake's "Hold on, We're Coming Home," featuring Magid Jordan
• Best Lyric Video: 5 Seconds of Summer's "Don't Stop"
• Artist to Watch: Fifth Harmony's "Miss Movin' On."

Check out all the winners here.

Among the losers were Wiz Khalifa ("We Dem Boyz"), the Black Keys ("Fever") and Eminem featuring Rihanna ("The Monster").

Snoop Dogg wears an upside three-leaf gold pendant at the 2014 MTV Music Video Awards. Gwen Stefani at right.

The stoniest moment came when Snoop Dogg and Gwen Stefani gave out the first award. No, Snoop didn't light up a blunt but he did rock a gold pot-leaf pendant.
