He was among the 20 applicants who were selected to open pot shops in the city 30 miles southeast of Los Angeles. B-Real (nee Louise Freese) will open under the name Dr. Greenthumb.

“I think Santa Ana is willing to take the chance to see if this actually works, kind of like Colorado did with respect to putting the legalization in place,” he said after the lottery results were announced. There were 690 application (at a cost of $1,690 each).

“We want to show, if done correctly and legally, all the good things that it can bring to the actual city - jobs, revenue stream, more opportunity and quality of medicine,” the rapper added.

Three days after winning the lottery, B-Real took second- and third-place honors at the High Times Medical Cup in San Bernardino for Best Booth and Best Sativa for Tangie. Check out all the winners here.
