While dealing with cancer and surgery, Tommy Chong has been working on a talk show, Almost Legal with Tommy Chong, produced by his son, Paris. The show made its debut at filmon.com on Oct. 23.
"If it gets real popular it will be all over the place," he tells CelebStoner. "Right now we’re aiming at the Internet because it’s easier and you don’t have to do the production that you do on a TV show."
The first show features director Eli Roth and comedy/music duo Garfunkel and Oates. Chong is predictably stony; he keeps the conversation moving with thoughtful questions and humorous repartee. Roth, who's pretty funny, never gets around to discussing his new movie, The Green Inferno, which features a pot sub-plot. Garfunkel (Riki Lundhome) and Oates (Kate Micucci) perform their song, "Weed Card." No smoking takes place in the premier episode. New episodes are posted Fridays at 5 pm PT. Watch here.
Upcoming guests include comedians George Lopez, Hannibal Buress, George Wallace and Andy Milonakis; actor Danny Trejo; rapper Killer MIke; stunt man Steve-O; dispensary owner Steve DeAngelo; lawyers Bruce and Allison Margolin; and Henry Rollins.
"Actually, this turned out to be a blessing," Chong says about his cancer condition. "It made me stop doing the touring and start doing the individual Chong stuff. I’m liking that a lot."
He had surgery to remove a tumor on Oct. 22.
