Star Leaf Marijuana Now Available in Washington

The sci-fi stoner movie, Star Leaf, is now a strain of marijuana available in Washington State. Phoenix Cannabis Company in Tumwater is the producer and Clear Choice Cannabis in Tacoma (8001 S. Hosmer St.) is the initial retailer.

Based on Richard Cranor's 2015 flick that pits hikers against extraterrestrials who grow supernatural weed, the Star Leaf strains come in the standard varieties: indica, sativa and hybrid. The tagline on the packaging reads: "Explore the Universe."

"The Star Leaf folks are definitely on the cutting edge of cannabis-related entertainment and messaging," says Clear Choice co-founder Shawn Sortland.

In the promotional clip above, Cranor says he's not a big smoker, but has had cancer and knows relatives with PSTD. "I think it's a good option for people to treat those conditions," comments Cranor, who acted in the flick along with ZNation's Russell Hodgkinson.

"If we can gets some awareness," Hodgkinson adds, "that's just a great thing."
