Snoop Dogg has joined Donald Trump's enemies lists that includes the New York Times, CNN, Saturday Night Live, the Washington Post, Vanity Fair and Buzzfeed. Each has been described by the president as "failing." Now Snoop is part of that group.
On Wednesday, Trump tweeted:
Can you imagine what the outcry would be if @SnoopDogg, failing career and all, had aimed and fired the gun at President Obama? Jail time!

Trump was referring to Snoop's latest video, for the song "Lavender," in which Trump is depicted as a clown. After another clown is killed by a cop, Snoop encounters "Ronald Klump," and while hitting a blunt, he aims a fake gun at him, fires and the word BANG emerges from the gun, like in a cartoon. Later in the scene, Snoop passes the blunt to another clown, who also threatens Klump.
Prior to that scene, Snoop raps: "I'm blowing new purple in a new circle." The video also features the breakfast cereal, Snoop Loops, which is green. The box is adorned with pot leaves.
Snoop has yet to respond to Trump, but fellow rapper Common has his back. "Hip-hop has always been about freedom of expression," he tells TMZ. "Hip-hop artists have always been speaking up and saying what they feel. If it's a president they don't like, if it's a politicians they don't like… If you don't like what's going on you speak up. We're entitled to do that as people."
Prior to the video's release, Snoop stated: "Anytime I drop something, I'm trying to fill a void. I feel like it's a lot of people making cool records, having fun, partying, but nobody's dealing with the real issue of this motherfuckin' clown as president."
Snoop Dogg is No. 17 on Forbes' "Hip-Hop's Highest Paid Acts" list. He earned $12.5 million in 2016, up from $10 million in 2015.
