Miley Cyrus Stops Smoking Pot, Knocks Stoners

Miley Cyrus offers a joint to reporters after MTV’s Video Music Awards in 2015.

Top CelebStoner Miley Cyrus hasn't smoked weed in more than a month, which is spurring headlines about her new sobriety. She told Billboard in a recent cover story:

"I like to surround myself with people that make me want to get better, more evolved, open. And I was noticing, it's not the people that are stoned. I want to be super clear and sharp, because I know exactly where I want to be."

Let's parse that statement from the now-24-year-old apparently former stoner:

"I like to surround myself with people that make me want to get better, more evolved, open."

She's saying that marijuana users are less evolved and less open, which is clearly a putdown.

"I was noticing, it's not the people that are stoned."

Maybe it's just her choice of friends, but again this is an insulting, albiet perhaps true, statement.

"I want to be super clear and sharp, because I know exactly where I want to be."

Clarity and sharpness can be issues for unevolved stoners. It's advisable to choose the best times of day to use. You're about to do an interview? No. You're about to take your dog for a walk? Yes.

Miley broke out her famous potleaf leotard for the Bangerz tour in 2014.

It seems that marijuana may have been a passing fancy for Cyrus, who began broadcasting her use when she was 18. Six years hence, Cyrus now says she's evolving away from cannabis.

That's all well and good for her, but the media perception is another thing. It leads to articles like, "Miley Cyrus Quits Pot, Other Celebrities Renounce Marijuana," by groups like Parents Opposed to Pot

Prior to this reveleation, Cyrus was one of this site's leading CelebStoners. She called marijuana "the best drug on earth," and wore a potleaf-adorned leotard and sold gold-leaf hemp rolling papers on the Bangerz tour. During a press conference after MTV's Video Music Awards in 2015, Cyrus passed a joint to reporters. She named one of her dogs Mary Jane and has been seen at Los Angeles-area dispensaries.
