Wiz Khalifa: 'I Stand for Pot'

Wiz Khalifa fake tokes in front of 25,000 fans at Pittsburgh’s PNC Park.

The Pittsburgh-raised rapper knows how to make a statement. On the last day of the Pirates home season at PNC Park on Sept. 27, Wiz Khalifa (nee Cameron Thomas) was invited to throw out the first pitch of the game against the Orioles.

Wearing a "Legalize It" t-shirt and a yellow cap, upon being announced and standing on the mound, Khalifa lifted his right hand to his mouth and did a fake toke for all to see. He tossed an errant pitch and then controversy ensued.

Major League Baseball's Pat Courtney responded with the following statement

"Marijuana is a prohibited substance in all of our drug programs. It's unfortunate this situation occurred. The Pirates have informed us that this should not have happened."

Of course, there was no way to know that Khalifa would make the grand toke gesture in front of 25,000 baseball fans, but someone had to have seen his t-shirt.

On Sept. 29, Khalifa told Pittsburgh's Action 4 News:

'I stand for pot. I go for it everywhere that I'm at. When you invite me you know that's what you're inviting. It is what it is, but at the end of the day, legalize it. We need it here in Pittsburgh for sure. There are a lot of people in Pittsburgh who agree with that message.'

Pittsburgh's City Council voted to decriminalize marijuana in 2015.
